Finder

Some simple tricks

  1. Press Space quick look folders or files.
  2. Right click Finder window's title to see the current work path.
  3. Drag and drop a file or folder into the terminal window, get the file's location path.
  4. Copy a file or folder to a text input zone, get the file's location path.
  5. In the icon zone of File Info Panel( call it by press Command + I on a file or folder), you can change the file's icon to the picture which is pasted into the clipboard, by press Command + V. Hit Delete key to recovery the icon.

View

  • Finder Menubar > View > Customize Toolbar... > Show Icon only
  • In Home Directory > Finder Menubar > View > Show View options > Show Library Folder
  • Make new folder 'Workspace' in the home directory && drag and drop it into sidebar.
  • Give 'Workspace' folder a nice icon such as 'smartFolderIcon.icns' (Location:/System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/).
  • Rename && pre-define some tag for future use. Such as:

Preferences

  • Finder Menubar > Finder > Preferences... > General > New Finder windows show: > $HOME
  • Finder Menubar > Finder > Preferences... > General > Check Open folders in tabs instead of new windows
  • Finder Menubar > Finder > Preferences... > Sidebar > Add $HOME && remove All My Files
  • Finder Menubar > Finder > Preferences... > Advanced > When performing a search > Search the Current Folder
